Alamo Sewer and Water rescinded the “Do Not Drink Notice” issued following a water main break that caused a system-wide loss of pressure. Water quality testing has confirmed that tap water throughout the distribution system is safe for consumption and routine household use, lifting all precautionary restrictions immediately.
According to a notice signed on August 17, 2026, water samples collected across the system on August 14 and August 15 tested negative for Escherichia coli (E. coli) and total coliform bacteria. Five samples were evaluated on each date, with all results confirming that bacterial contaminants were absent from the water supply.
The advisory was originally instituted on Thursday, August 13, after a 6-inch water main burst near Purple Sage and Broadway, resulting in a system-wide pressure drop.
With testing verifying that the water system is clear, residents may resume normal tap water usage immediately.
