A search warrant executed at a Panaca residence Monday night resulted in the seizure of approximately 105 grams of methamphetamine, roughly a quarter pound, in what the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office described as one of the largest seizures from a local residence in recent county history.
Deputies executed the search warrant on the evening of Sept. 1, arresting one individual for possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.
The amount recovered was significant for a residential drug investigation in Lincoln County. In addition to approximately 105 grams of methamphetamine, deputies reported finding evidence consistent with the packaging and sale of the drug.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies recovered scales, baggies, drug paraphernalia and individually packaged quantities of methamphetamine reportedly prepared for sale.
The Panaca seizure was followed by another drug enforcement operation in Caliente on Sept. 2.
Deputies executed a separate search warrant in Caliente, resulting in the arrests of two additional individuals on drug-related charges. Additional details regarding the Caliente investigation were not released in the initial update.
The two operations resulted in three arrests over the course of two days as the Sheriff’s Office continues drug investigations throughout the county.
Following the arrests, the Sheriff’s Office issued a strong warning to those involved in illegal drug activity.
“If you choose to sell, distribute or possess illegal drugs in Lincoln County, it is only a matter of time before we find you,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “Our deputies are actively investigating drug activity throughout the county, and we will continue working to identify those who bring illegal drugs into our communities.”
The Sheriff’s Office also emphasized the role information from residents can play in ongoing investigations. Residents who observe suspected drug activity, including suspected sales, suspicious behavior or frequent short-term traffic at a residence, are encouraged to report it to law enforcement.
“Information from our community can be critical in helping us build cases and get dangerous drugs off our streets,” the Sheriff’s Office stated.
The Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to continuing enforcement efforts aimed at illegal drug activity throughout Lincoln County.
