The Pahranagat Valley High School girls volleyball team dropped the first set to Laughlin 23-25, but came back strong in the next three, winning 25-8, 25-15, 25-7 on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
PVHS head coach Milly Walch said that Laughlin had a tough server who forced a lot of serve return errors early in the match. “But even with a lost set. I saw lots of good positive things, and we’re moving in the right direction,” she added.
The Panthers (7-5, 2-0) remain unbeaten in league play this season and go into Thursday’s game at winless Adelson (0-4, 0-3) with a good chance to remain atop the Southern 1A standings.
The Lady Panthers also defeated Word of Life 28-26, 25-19, 25-21 on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
“We were able to shut down their middle blocker and score by hitting spots. They had some really good servers, so we struggled with serve receive in a couple rotations, but by the end figured it out,” Walch explained.
After Pahranagat Valley plays at Adelson on Thursday, Sept. 10, the Lady Panthers are at Lincoln County for a non-league match at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15. White Pine visits PVHS on Friday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.
