Lincoln County first responders answer the call as nation remembers 9/11

September 15, 2026 by Denise Houston

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 109 calls for service during the past week, with noteworthy incidents including arrests, vehicle accidents, a recovered stolen vehicle and calls throughout the county.

In Caliente, deputies responded to several incidents during the week. A search warrant resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of one individual. Deputies also handled reports of harassment and assault, with no arrests reported in either incident. In a separate theft case, property was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

In Panaca, deputies responded to a reported burglary, with no arrests made at this time. A separate domestic call resulted in one individual being arrested.

Deputies also responded to a reported sex offense in Alamo. The incident remains under investigation.

Traffic accidents resulted in several people requiring additional medical care. Three people were transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident in Pioche, while one person was transported following a separate single-vehicle accident.

Pahranagat Valley Fire and Ambulance responded to two medical calls during the week, one in Alamo and one in Hiko. Both patients were transported for further care.

This year marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives. Among those lost were hundreds of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency personnel who ran toward danger in an effort to save others.

For those who continue to answer the call in Lincoln County and in communities across the nation, September 11 remains a powerful reminder of the commitment, courage and sacrifice that come with serving others.

We remember those who were lost, honor those who responded and recognize the families who have carried that loss for 25 years.

We will never forget.
