Pahranagat Valley Federal Credit Union
The Pahranagat Valley Federal Credit Union has experienced substantial growth as it has served the valley’s financial needs for the past 53 years.
What was started by a small group of ranchers who pooled their money to enable local loans for equipment and supplies now serves over 2,000 members. It provides many of the services one would expect from a big-city establishment. This includes car loans, mortgages, student loans and business loans. PVFCU also owns five ATMs throughout the valley, including its newest one at Carlos’ Restaurant.
The institution started out in a resident’s home, then to a trailer that had no bathroom (employees had to go across the street), then to another trailer, and finally to a stick-built structure completed in 2004. Back in 1991, total assets totalled about $700,000. Currently, the credit union handles roughly $18.5 million in assets.
Managed by Robin Simmers and run by six employees, the credit union continues to add new services for its members. They hope to have credit cards available soon and are working on new mobile banking access.
